2016 Jeep Renegade vs. Nissan JUKE

Entry-level sport utility vehicles are still all the rage on roads across the nation, and that doesn't look like it's going to change, especially with gas prices going down.

Nissan is making a splash in the entry-level crossover market with its JUKE SUV. But while the JUKE is sporty and fun as a crossover SUV, it can't compare to the2016 Jeep Renegadein overall features and utility.

For our Manhattan, Queens, and Bronx customers, Manhattan Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram offers a look at how these two contenders match up.

Comfort and Ride

Comfort is important, and it's perhaps unfortunate that we don't make more of it when compared to items such as technology features.

TheJeep Renegadecomes out far on top in the areas of comfort and ride experience. There's more head and legroom in the cabin and back seats in the 2016 Jeep Renegade than there is in the JUKE, meaning that for both drivers and passengers, you're in for a more pleasant ride.

While seating space is similar between the two vehicles, there's more cargo space in the Renegade. This means if you need to haul equipment or are going on a family road trip, you're better off with the Renegade than the JUKE. Power, torque, handling, and turning between the two is, however, roughly similar.

2016 Jeep Renegade vs. Nissan JUKE

It's always hard to put actual numbers on information such as real gas mileage and cost. It really comes down to the option packages you choose, how you drive your vehicle, and the length of the trips you make. Wear and tear also counts for a lot.

That being said, the Renegade comes off the assembly line at a lower MSRP than the JUKE, while the JUKE has a slight edge on EPA-estimated city mileage, though the two are almost the same when it comes to highway miles.

The2016 Jeep Renegadehas four-star overall safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and an overall rating of good in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) standard safety tests, with an acceptable rating for small overlap front. It also received a rating of advanced in front crash protection when the optional Advanced Technology Group pack is added on.

The Nissan JUKE likewise received four stars from the NHTSA and good overall in crash worthiness, but poor on small overlap front from the IIHS.

Jeep Renegade vs. Nissan JUKE Technology

The Jeep Renegade features power accessories, AM/FM radio with four speakers, power outlets, and options for items such as climate control, XM radio, Bluetooth, and wireless internet.

The JUKE comes with a bit more on the base level, including a rearview camera and air conditioning, but the overall options are similar between the two, and wireless internet isn't an available option for the JUKE.

Test Drive the 2016 Jeep Renegade

In the end, we think the Jeep Renegade comes out on top, though the Nissan JUKE is certainly a solid and fun vehicle for tooling around town and dealing with inclement weather.
